I remember the day I spoke English to a stranger.
Recuerdo el día que hablé inglés con un extraño.
My hands were cold and my voice was small.
Mis manos estaban frías y mi voz era pequeña.
But I said 'hello' and he smiled.
Pero dije 'hola' y él sonrió.
That smile made me feel brave.
Esa sonrisa me hizo sentir valiente.
I did not need perfect words.
No necesitaba palabras perfectas.
I just needed to try.
Solo necesitaba intentarlo.
Now I see every stranger is a friend.
Ahora veo que cada extraño es un amigo.
They want to understand me too.
Ellos también quieren entenderme.
I am learning one word at a time.
Estoy aprendiendo una palabra a la vez.
And that is enough.
Y eso es suficiente.
