I held my question inside for days.
It felt heavy, like a stone in my pocket.
Everyone else seemed to know the answer.
So I nodded and pretended along.
But pretending eats you from inside.
That night, I wrote my question down.
The paper felt lighter than my worry.
I practiced saying it out loud, once.
My voice cracked like old wood.
Still, I spoke to my supervisor today.
She smiled and said, 'Good question.'
The fear was bigger than the act.
