I called my mother today.
Liguei para minha mãe hoje.
It was a short call.
Foi uma ligação curta.
We talked about the weather.
Conversamos sobre o tempo.
She told me about her garden.
Ela me contou sobre o jardim dela.
I could hear birds in the background.
Pude ouvir passarinhos ao fundo.
Her voice sounded tired but happy.
A voz dela soava cansada, mas feliz.
I almost missed her goodnight.
Quase perdi o boa-noite dela.
But I held on a little longer.
Mas segurei um pouco mais.
Those seconds felt soft and warm.
Aqueles segundos pareceram suaves e quentes.
I hung up and smiled.
Desliguei e sorri.
Some things don't need long words.
Algumas coisas não precisam de longas palavras.
Just her voice is enough.
Só a voz dela já basta.
