Last week, I explained our budget to Sam.

Sam gets nervous with numbers.

I started with a simple picture.

I said, "Think of it like a family budget."

That made the idea familiar.

The part that matters here is the rent.
ここで大事なのは家賃の部分です。
Rent is the biggest cost.
家賃が一番大きな出費です。
In plain terms, this means we need more money.
簡単に言うと、もっとお金が必要だということです。
Sam looked less worried then.
それを聞いて、サムは少し安心したようです。
We talked about the other costs.
それから、他の費用について話しました。
I kept everything short and clear.
説明はいつも短く、はっきりとしました。
At the end, Sam said he understood.
最後にサムは「分かった」と言いました。
