I called my mother after a long day.
漫长的一天后，我给妈妈打了电话。
Her voice sounded warm through the speaker.
她的声音从听筒里传来，很温暖。
I told her about my new project at work.
我跟她聊了工作上的新项目。
She asked small questions, but I knew she listened.
她问了些小问题，但我知道她在认真听。
We talked for twenty minutes about ordinary things.
我们聊了二十分钟，都是些平常事。
Then she said she was proud of me.
然后她说她为我骄傲。
That one sentence stayed with me.
就这一句话，一直留在我心里。
I realized I needed to hear it.
我意识到自己需要听到这句话。
The call ended, and I sat in the dark room.
电话挂断，我坐在昏暗的房间里。
I felt less alone, even far from home.
即使离家很远，我也觉得不那么孤单了。
Sometimes a simple call can fill something.
