B10:46
I saw her at the same café we used to go to.
Her hair was shorter, and she wore glasses now.
But her smile was exactly the same.
We hugged without saying a word.
Nagyakap kami nang walang sinasabi.
Then we sat down and ordered our old drinks.
Tapos umupo kami at umorder ng dati naming inumin.
At first, we talked about work and travel.
Noong una, nag-usap kami tungkol sa trabaho at paglalakbay.
It felt safe, like we were testing the water.
Parang ligtas, tila sinusubukan ang tubig.
Then she talked about her mother's illness.
I listened and held her hand across the table.
We were not the same people anymore.
Hindi na kami ang parehong tao dati.
But something between us had not changed.
It was the way we understood each other.
