I remember my first English conversation with a stranger.

It was at a coffee shop near my office.
제 사무실 근처의 커피숍이었어요.
I wanted to order a latte.
라떼를 주문하고 싶었어요.
My heart beat fast when the barista looked at me.
바리스타가 저를 쳐다봤을 때 심장이 빨리 뛰었어요.
I opened my mouth and said, 'One latte, please.'
입을 열고 '라떼 한 잔 주세요'라고 말했어요.
The words came out small, but clear.
목소리는 작았지만 또렷했어요.
The barista smiled and said, 'Sure thing.'
바리스타가 웃으며 '물론이죠'라고 했어요.
I felt a wave of relief wash over me.
안도감이 밀려왔어요.
That small exchange changed something inside me.
그 작은 대화가 제 안의 무언가를 바꿨어요.
I realized I could really communicate in English.
제가 실제로 영어로 소통할 수 있다는 걸 깨달았어요.
It was not perfect, but it was real.
완벽하지는 않았지만 진짜였어요.
That day, I took a step into a new world.
