Talking to a parent about their child with honesty and kindness

I had a meeting with a parent yesterday.

I wanted to share both the good and the tricky.

The child does well in math and art.

But he often interrupts other kids.

I said, 'I see his energy and creativity.'

Then I added, 'At home, it might help to practice waiting.'

The parent looked worried at first.

So I said, 'We are on the same team here.'

Her face relaxed.

She said she noticed the same at home.

We made a small plan together.

I think honesty with kindness works.
