Helping two teammates find common ground

Two of my teammates were stuck over a small issue.

One wanted to change the deadline; the other did not.

I said, 'I hear both sides on this.'

That seemed to calm the tension right away.

Then I asked, 'What if we tried a short delay?'

I offered to help with the extra work.

They both looked at me and then at each other.

Finally, the first teammate nodded slowly.

The second one said, 'Okay, I can live with that.'

I asked, 'Can we both live with that?'

They agreed, and we moved on.

I felt quietly proud of that moment.
