I got my first paycheck today.
今日、初めての給料をもらった。
I worked hard for two weeks.

The number on the paper was small.
紙に書かれた数字は小さかった。
But it was my own money.

I held the check in my hand.
小切手を手に持った。
I did not know what to do.
何をすればいいかわからなかった。
I wanted to buy something fun.
何か楽しいものを買いたかった。
But I also wanted to save.
でも、貯金もしたかった。
I sat on my bed for a long time.
ベッドに長い間座っていた。
Finally, I put half in my savings box.
最後に、半分を貯金箱に入れた。
The other half went to a new book.
残りの半分で新しい本を買った。
I felt proud and a little grown up.
誇らしくて、少し大人になった気がした。
