I had to share bad numbers in a meeting.

I took a deep breath before starting.

I said, "I want to be straight with you."

Then I showed the numbers on the screen.
それから画面に数字を映した。
I said, "Here is what the numbers say."
「数字が示すのはこれです」と言った。
People looked worried for a moment.
一瞬、皆が心配そうな顔をした。
But I kept my voice steady and calm.
でも、私は落ち着いた声を保った。
I added, "Here is how we can respond."
「これが私たちの対応策です」と付け加えた。
I listed three clear next steps.
三つの明確な次のステップを挙げた。
The team started to nod.
チームがうなずき始めた。
Honesty helped us move forward.
正直さが前進の助けになった。
