El último invitado se fue hace una hora.
I look at the empty cups on the table.
Miro las tazas vacías sobre la mesa.
The room feels bigger and softer now.
La habitación se siente más grande y suave ahora.
I hear the fridge hum in the kitchen.
Oigo el zumbido de la nevera en la cocina.
My ears still ring from the talking.
Mis oídos todavía zumban por la charla.
But this silence is my friend tonight.
Pero este silencio es mi amigo esta noche.
I pick up a plate with crumbs.
Recojo un plato con migas.
I wash it slowly in warm water.
Lo lavo despacio en agua tibia.
Each dish is a small job done.
Cada plato es una pequeña tarea terminada.
I am not tired, just empty and full.
No estoy cansado, solo vacío y lleno.
Tomorrow work will call me again.
Mañana el trabajo me llamará otra vez.
But tonight I keep this quiet space.
Pero esta noche guardo este espacio tranquilo.
