Today I watched my niece draw a tree.
今天我看我侄女画了一棵树。
She used purple for the leaves.

I said trees are green, usually.

She looked at me, puzzled.

Then she said, my tree is happy.

Happy trees can be any color.

That stuck with me all evening.

At work, I follow too many rules.

I forget to ask what feels right.

Maybe I need a purple-leaf mind.

Try new ways without fear.
