I used an example from a project we both knew.

I said, "Imagine it like building a house."
"Bir ev inşa etmek gibi düşün" dedim.
She nodded.
Başını salladı.
I kept talking.
Konuşmaya devam ettim.
I asked, "Does that make it clearer?"
"Bu daha anlaşılır oldu mu?" diye sordum.
She smiled and said yes.

I learned to watch for confusion.

I had to explain the same idea three times. I changed my words each time.
