It was raining, and I had no umbrella.
बारिश हो रही थी, और मेरे पास छाता नहीं था।
My friend saw me from the door.
मेरे दोस्त ने मुझे दरवाज़े से देखा।
She came and shared her umbrella with me.
वह आई और अपनी छाता मेरे साथ बाँटा।
We walked close together under the rain.
हम बारिश में एक साथ चले।
Her shoulder got wet, but she did not mind.
उसका कंधा भीग गया, पर उसे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ा।
That small act felt like a big gift.
वह छोटा सा काम एक बड़े तोहफ़े जैसा लगा।
I realized help does not need to be big.
मुझे एहसास हुआ कि मदद बड़ी होनी ज़रूरी नहीं।
A simple umbrella can hold two people.
एक साधारण छाता दो लोगों को समा सकता है।
It just needs a little trust and closeness.
बस थोड़ा भरोसा और नज़दीकी चाहिए।
I felt warm, even in the cold rain.
ठंडी बारिश में भी मुझे गर्मी महसूस हुई।
That night, I thought about small kindnesses.
उस रात, मैंने छोटी-छोटी दयालुता के बारे में सोचा।
They are the ones that stay with us.
वही हमारे साथ रहते हैं।
