Calling Mom After My First Week

I called my mom after my first week.

She sounded worried on the phone.

I said, 'Here is where things stand.'

I told her about my new job.

I said the work is hard but good.

'What we are watching for is the training,' I said.

She asked, 'Is the pay enough?'

I smiled and said, 'It covers my needs.'

I added, 'You can ask me anything.'

She laughed a little then.

I felt proud to be honest.

The call ended with her saying, 'Good job.'
