I met an old friend today.
Encontrei um velho amigo hoje.
We had not seen each other for ten years.
Não nos víamos há dez anos.
At first, we were shy.
No começo, estávamos tímidos.
Then we laughed about old jokes.
Depois rimos de piadas antigas.
Our faces had changed.
Nossos rostos tinham mudado.
But our voices were the same.
Mas nossas vozes eram as mesmas.
We talked about school and dreams.
Conversamos sobre escola e sonhos.
Some dreams had come true.
Alguns sonhos se realizaram.
Others had faded away.
Outros desapareceram.
I felt happy and sad at once.
Senti felicidade e tristeza ao mesmo tempo.
Time is a strange thing.
O tempo é uma coisa estranha.
It pulls us apart and brings us back.
Ele nos separa e nos traz de volta.
