My dog was scared of the stairs.
Meu cachorro tinha medo da escada.
I tried to push him.
Eu tentei empurrá-lo.
But my little niece stopped me.
Mas minha sobrinha me parou.
She sat down next to him.
Ela sentou ao lado dele.
She did not say a word.
Ela não disse uma palavra.
She just waited with him.
Ela só esperou com ele.
After ten minutes, he moved.
Depois de dez minutos, ele se mexeu.
She smiled and gave him a treat.
Ela sorriu e deu a ele um petisco.
I learned a big lesson that day.
Aprendi uma grande lição naquele dia.
Sometimes we just need to be still.
Às vezes só precisamos ficar quietos.
Children know this better than us.
Crianças sabem isso melhor que nós.
Now I try to remember her calm.
Agora tento lembrar da calma dela.
